Van Oord appointed CLAS to provide technical support on the Constanța port extension project in Romania.
During the Constanța port protection project in Romania, CLAS teams worked alongside Van Oord, providing specialized support for the installation of ACCROPODE™II concrete armour units and independent certification of the breakwater armour layer.

Technical assistance for the installation of ACCROPODE™ II concrete armour units
Safety training for site teams (surface operations, underwater works, coordination between equipment and divers)
Above-water and underwater inspections
Non-conformity analysis and recommendations for corrective measures
Independent certification of the structure as a whole (foundations, underlayers, filters, armour layer, final breakwater geometry)

The armour layer of the North Breakwater extension consisted of:

8,500 ACCROPODE™ II units of 9 m³
1,000 ACCROPODE™ II units of 12 m³
CLAS was involved in diver and personnel training, on-site assistance during armour unit placement, as well as inspection of the works.
