Background

RLNBC was experiencing difficulties on the Ras Laffan project, as the installation of ACCROPODE™ blocks had been rejected. The company therefore called upon IDMer, now CLAS, to provide full technical assistance. The objective was to correct ineffective installation methods and achieve the level of quality required by the client.

ACCROPODE™ is a registered trademark owned by the ARTELIA Group, which is in no way affiliated with CLAS.

The independent expertise of IDMer, now CLAS, enabled RLNBC to restart the project using sound methods, avoiding the disastrous procedures initially implemented, which were heavily affected by conflicts of interest.

The mission entrusted to CLAS:

CLAS intervened to:

  • train installation teams, both divers and non-divers, in safety procedures and block installation methods;

  • achieve the quality and production targets set by the client.

Result

The production and quality objectives were achieved. The block installation was approved without reservations by the client, marking a major success for the Ras Laffan project and demonstrating the value of engaging an independent service provider, free from license vendors and any conflict of interest.
