YEAR: 2019–2020
PROJECT: New Beirut Marina – Solidere
COMPANY: ./
CLIENT : Solidere

Background
The Eastern Marina project consisted of the construction of the new marina in Beirut, Lebanon. Solidere, as Project Owner, entrusted the design to DAR and the construction works to ARACO.
CLAS was appointed to supervise the entire construction works and to implement quality certification, ensuring the technical compliance and durability of the structures built with ACCROPODE™ concrete armour units.
ACCROPODE™ is a registered trademark owned by the ARTELIA group, which is in no way affiliated with CLAS.
CLAS intervened on this project in full independence from the licence seller.
Key figures
- 2,457 ACCROPODE™ units of 12 m³
Average production rate: 6 units/hour

Role of CLAS
Implement the CLAS certification procedures for construction quality.
Supervise the installation works and quality control operations.
Achieve the production objectives set by the Project Owner.

Result
The ACCROPODE™ structures built under the supervision of CLAS were certified “CLASS A”. They are located in the area directly impacted by the 2020 Beirut Port explosion.
The joint expert assessment carried out after the explosion confirmed that no damage was observed: no broken, displaced or destabilised units were identified.
This outcome illustrates the robustness and quality of the construction works and of the supervision performed by CLAS, carried out with no connection whatsoever to the licence sellers.
