The project
YEAR: 2015–2019
PROJECT: Kuantan Deep Water Terminal
COMPANY: IJM–CHEC JV
CLIENT: ECERDC

Background
The first contractor involved on this major structure failed to properly construct the armour layer using ACCROPODE™ II units. Several units were removed from the armour layer, and settlement and breakages subsequently occurred. CLAS was appointed as a fully independent company to carry out an expert assessment of the structure.
ACCROPODE™ is a registered trademark owned by the ARTELIA group, which is in no way affiliated with CLAS.
CLAS intervened on this project in full independence, making it possible to conduct an objective and impartial expert assessment. Numerous non-conformities were identified.
The Client then called upon the IJM–CHEC JV to carry out the remedial works and complete the structure under the supervision of CLAS.
Key figures
- 8,616 ACCROPODE™ II units of 2 m³
