The project
YEAR: 2011
PROJECT: Marchica Lagoon Opening
COMPANY: SOMAGEC
CLIENT: Kingdom of Morocco

Background
SOMAGEC was unable to construct rapidly enough the two breakwaters required to open the Marchica Lagoon to the sea in Morocco.
The assistance provided by the licence seller did not enable the company to find an effective solution. SOMAGEC therefore called upon IDMer, now operating as CLAS, to urgently place 5,000 ACCROPODE™ II units.
ACCROPODE™ II is a registered trademark owned by the ARTELIA group, which is in no way affiliated with CLAS.
CLAS intervened on this project in full independence from the licence seller.
Key figures
- 5,000 ACCROPODE™ II units ranging from 2 to 5 m³ Average production rate: 15 units/hour Overall installation period: 45 days

Role of CLAS
The mission entrusted to CLAS was particularly comprehensive and included:
Installing 5,000 approved ACCROPODE™ II units within a two-month period.
Ensuring the quality of installation and interlocking in accordance with the design and the CLI Technical Installation Drawings (TID).
Providing quality certification of the armour layer, based on inspections and control videos.

Result
The Marchica breakwaters were delivered on schedule, without reservations at acceptance, and were certified CLASS A.
The CLAS certification file was included in the as-built documentation (DOE).
