The BS1 block is the historical reference for highly interlocking artificial armour units used in breakwater armour layers.
Patented in 1979, the BS1 block built its reputation on several hundred structures worldwide. The patent entered the public domain in 1999.
CLAS has implemented this block on a number of major projects under the ACCROPODE™ trademark, notably on the Dung Quat project in Vietnam, Ras Laffan in Qatar, and Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi.
Under the BREAKWATER SOLUTION™ brand, the same block has recently been used for the reconstruction of the Cap Sicié breakwater by VINCI, for the construction of the protective breakwater of the AZALAI hotel in Dakar, and for the reconstruction of the Argelès-sur-Mer breakwater.

CLAS and TSMC will form a joint team.
TSMC will be responsible for the installation of the BS1 blocks, while CLAS will provide continuous quality control and certification, with the objective of achieving Class A Breakwater excellence.
CLAS is currently preparing the placement drawings, and—as on all projects where we are involved—will also deliver safety training for site personnel.
