1 DEVELOPMENT OF PROCEDURES taking into account the requirements of TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4, Xbloc® or other technologies and the means available to the company.

The safety of personnel is our priority, then the quality objectives, imposed by the imperatives of solidity and durability of the breakwaters, are taken into account and experience has shown that not all tools are equal and do not allow to achieve these goals.

Finally, the production objectives are sought and achieved, but following a progression that is based on quality requirements. On certain projects, such as the New Coastal Road on Reunion Island, for example, we have seen that dismantling and reassembly, sometimes exceeding 60% of the ACCROPODE™II blocks placed, was necessary, because the tools and methods used , had not made it possible to achieve the solidity criteria sought by the project owner, at the level of the installation of the armor blocks of the breakwaters with ACCROPODE™II.

 

2 TRAINING OF DIVER AND NON-DIVER PERSONNEL

The construction of breakwaters protection with TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® blocks calls for specific safety rules.

We train your staff: slingers, divers, diving supervisors, works supervisors, superintendents, engineers, operators, barge managers and in general all those involved in shells TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1 , BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc®.

We have educational tools developed during the international projects on which we have intervened: models, photos, videos which are today the most efficient and effective on the market. Above all, we provide practical training directly by integrating your placing teams.

 

The training consists of three modules:

 

First module: Safety training.

We assess the application of safety rules before issuing the staff capacity certificate.

All new workers on the site are trained and we issue the company a staff training certificate.

 

The safety procedures and training provided are integrated into your project's HSE program and we work in collaboration with your HSE engineer, whom we also train in the specifics of the work implementing the TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™ blocks, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc®.

 

Second module: Training in the quality of the installation of ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® blocks.

We assess the staff's capacity to build in accordance with the criteria defined in the TID before issuing the staff capacity certificate. This quality is only sought when the safety rules are understood and applied.

Third module: Production training in the installation of TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® blocks or others.

We bring the staff to the capacity of at least 8 units placed without defects per hour. This production is only possible when knowledge of safety and quality is acquired and implemented. Depending on the visibility conditions and the equipment used, we have achieved average production of 15 blocks per hour correctly placed and approved.

 

The trainings are given in English.

 

3 UNRESERVED APPROVAL

CLAS inspectors are present on the project full time. Each block TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® or others placed is checked by a diver or a technician trained by CLAS, before placing the next block. Each block line laid is checked before the next line is laid. Each section laid under water is checked before building above water.

CLAS inspectors intervene several times a day and immediately order the necessary adjustments or repairs and help your teams to carry them out. This way there is no major disassembly. This is also how we achieve very high production and unqualified approval of the works built. CLAS inspectors also check the underlay, the toe piece and all the TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® blocks installed.

 

4 COMPLETION OF THE ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™ II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4, Xbloc® AND OTHER PROJECTS ON TIME

The importance of the checks that we carry out throughout the construction and our know-how in handling blocks TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® and immediate repairs save a lot of time and significantly reduce the duration of the construction site. The projects on which we intervene are normally delivered before the scheduled end date of the work.

 

5 HIGH PRODUCTION AT ITS MAXIMUM

To install quickly and well, your project must meet two conditions:

1 The personnel must have been properly trained theoretically and practically. This learning cannot be done in just a few days. It is constant work that uses tools and educational methods available to CLAS inspectors.

 

2 There must be no significant and frequent dismantling of the TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™II, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® blocks. The work procedures developed by CLAS and the frequent inspections that we carry out prevent these dismantlings.

These averages are based on actual placement times, repairs and inspections during installation. Shutdowns due to equipment failures are not included in this study. These figures have not changed since 2009, the date of the first comparative production calculations.

Since 2021, CLAS has provided you with a team specialized in the installation of TETRAPODE, ACCROPODE™, ACCROPODE™ I, CORELOC™, ECOPODE™, BS1, BS2, BS3, BS4 and Xbloc® armor blocks.

 

This service responds to a growing demand from companies who have understood that the level of technicality required for this particular maritime work is high and requires a long apprenticeship in this trade, rather than the short training provided by license sellers. After experimenting with assistance tools, they return to traditional methods of construction by divers.

The CLAS company has competent personnel who ensure a “oneshot” installation, without subsequent dismantling, fast and approved without reservation.

You will find on the websites sellers of installation tools who "guarantee" installation without disassembly, whereas we have observed dismantling of more than 60% of the ACCROPODE™II or Xbloc® blocks installed on certain projects... This is not not CLAS which affirms that our installation does not require dismantling after control by the customer, it is our customers themselves who certify it, such as for example the Project Director of the company BOUYGUES, in charge of the construction of the seawalls of Port La Nouvelle, implementing ACCROPODE™II blocks and writing about CLAS:

 

"I hereby certify that the company CLAS intervened from August 02 to October 07, 2021 and correctly installed more than 1000 ACCROPODE™II within this period which did not require any recovery or dismantling after their inspection".

The placement surface of the armor blocks is the subject of an inspection report drawn up visually and often filmed, which confirms that the grading size of the rocks conforms to the standard sections of the project. We confirm that the roughness of the underlayer allows the placement of the armor blocks. We draw up the inspection report.
