YEAR: 2016-2018
PROJECT: MOIN CONTAINER TERMINAL
COUNTRY: COSTA RICA
CONTRACTOR: VAN OORD
CLIENT: GOVERNMENT
HISTORY:
VAN OORD was to build a new port protected by 17,000 X-bloc ® of 4.5 m3.
The sea conditions were difficult:
Constant swell and low visibility most of the time.
VAN OORD has adopted the best strategy: ECHOSCOPE + divers trained by CLAS.
THE KEY NUMBERS :
17,000 X-bloc ® of 4.5 m3
THE MISSION :
CLAS acted as an independent consultant with the mission of:
Train all staff in specific safety
X-bloc ®.
Train the X-bloc ® installation teams.
Ensure the interface between the company and DMC.
Establish and implement inspection procedures.
Issue the certification documents.
PRODUCTION:
Production is calculated on the basis of actual installation hours. Stoppages due to bad weather, breakdowns and, in general, causes unrelated to the installation of X-bloc ® are not taken into account in this calculation.
X-bloc ® 4.5 m3: 8 units per hour.
PROCEDURE:
The CLAS inspectors intervened full time in order to carry out several daily inspections and thus not delay the work by imposing significant dismantling.
The personnel responsible for installing the X-bloc ® have been continuously trained and supervised to maintain the highest level of safety and quality.
The inspections were carried out underwater by IMCA and HSE certified CLAS inspectors, who strictly apply the principles defined in the trademark CLAS TECHNOLOGY COMPLIANT™ and out of the water by foot and drone visits.
RESULT:
The site was delivered on time and the X-bloc ® shell received without reservation by the client.
VAN OORD COMMENT:
CLAS continues this tradition of excellence and security at the service of your projects
